Amid the Xbox Series X & PlayStation 5 Hype, Wheres Nintendo?

  • Nintendo has stayed quiet amid the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X hype.
  • Does the company have something hidden to reveal?
  • Maybe it’s not scared of next-gen consoles at all.

2020 has been a quiet year for Nintendo, eh? We’re only halfway through 2020, and we’ve got Paper Mario: The Origami King to look forward to. That’s it.

While this isn’t too surprising, considering Nintendo often goes with months of silence, this isn’t just any year. This is the year when the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 release.

Nintendo vs. Next-Gen Consoles

What’s the price? Where’s our release date? Will we ever see Halo: Infinite gameplay? These are the questions at the top of most gamers’ minds. Note that none of them has anything to do with Nintendo.

What’s up with that?

Why hasn’t Nintendo announced a more powerful Switch to compete with next-gen visuals? What games should we look forward to this holiday season? Where’s an update on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2?

Hell, the Wii and WiiU have a new game coming, and the former is 14 years old!

A Strange Lineup Awaits

Sure Animal Crossing is still in the news, but players will burn out. One could even argue Animal Crossing only is this popular due to the pandemic. With the world opening up, players may drop off in the millions.

Lately, all we’ve gotten are weird Pokemon apps like Sleep and Smile. Is Nintendo just after our livelihoods? Do they even want to make fun games anymore? The Pokemon MOBA is coming, but that’s not a top-tier Switch title.

Strangely, the company is only promoting more niche titles like Paper Mario–a franchise fans have strayed from. Maybe Nintendo doesn’t care about next-gen consoles. Or it has a late-summer surprise reveal hidden up its sleeve.
