Rockstar Games Unexpectedly Enters the Launcher Wars – CCN.com

The launcher wars are turning up a notch today with Rockstar Games revealing it has been hard at work designing its very own PC launcher.

The publisher behind the phenomenally successful Grand Theft Auto franchise launched the uniquely named “Rockstar Games Launcher” a short while ago. It’s currently available to download for Windows PC right here.

Download Rockstar Games Launcher and Get Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for Free

To entice players Rockstar is offering up Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for free for a limited time. Not a bad carrot to dangle.

As for what games we can hope to play via the launcher remains to be clarified, but from the promotional snaps produced for the download page, we can expect titles like GTA V, L.A. Noire, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and school mischief-maker sim Bully among others. We imagine the entire Rockstar library should feature in due course.

Going by the freshly published page on the Rockstar web site, the Rockstar launcher offers cloud saves, an inbuilt shop, and an automatic update feature. It’s all pretty typical fare for game launchers, but something the boffins at Epic might do well to look into given the long, arduous process of implementing similar features into the Epic Games Store.

Could This Mean Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC Is Coming Soon?

The timing is interesting as rumors of a Red Dead Redemption 2 PC port gather steam. Today’s news points towards an exclusive release on the launcher in the not too distant future.

There you go, another launcher to download onto your already strained machine. I’ve genuinely lost count between the Rockstar Games Launcher, Epic Games Store, Steam, Uplay, Windows Store, Origin, and so on ad nauseam.

Might be time for someone to conjure up one launcher to launch all the others. Now, there’s an idea.
